This fall, we will be starting two free mindfulness programs in September. Our next 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) course will start on September 14th (and run through November 9th). And, we will be continuing our program using the Healthy Minds app as well.
Healthy Minds App
This fall, we are continuing our program using a free mindfulness app (Healthy Minds) created by researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This program is a great opportunity for people who want to explore mindfulness, but do not feel that they have time for a class.
If you are interested, you can learn more and get started in the program on our Healthy Minds page, but the main points are:
- The study involves completing two surveys: one now, and one in about three months. And, using the Healthy Minds app this fall (roughly between September and November).
- We’ll also hold some optional weekly drop-in meetings (in person for folks in Crawfordsville, and virtually for folks who are not in the local area) on Tuesdays at 11:10 am and Thursdays at 4pm. These drop-in meetings will be focused on discussing our our experiences with the app, and to do some mindfulness practice together.
- Also, if you are interested in trying out the app, and joining us for those drop-in meetings, you are welcome even if you do not want to participate in the research study.
Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) class
Our next 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) class will start September 14th (and, more details are on our MBSR page). MBSR is an intensive program that focuses on helping us cultivate mindfulness in our daily lives and examine our relationship with different sources of stress in our lives. The program was developed in the 1970s by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, and is probably the best studied mindfulness-based intervention.
Orientation session: Anyone interested in the class should plan to attend our orientation session on September 14th (6-7:30pm) at Wabash College. You can sign-up for the March 15th session by emailing Neil, or using the form on the MBSR page.
Dates: We will meet on Mondays from 6-8pm starting on March 21st and ending on November 9th. There is also an all-day class (a mini-retreat) planned for Saturday, October 24th, from 10am to 5pm.
Cost: This class is supported by Wabash College, and is offered at no cost. Register soon: space is limited.
